Syllabus

COURSE FORMAT AND REQUIREMENTS: You are responsible for your own learning, including engaging with the course material and sharing your thoughts and ideas both during class and in written assignments.  All readings are available on the Blackboard system.  For help with Blackboard, please contact the Help Desk from Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm at 718-677-6180; helpdesk@brooklyn.cuny.edu.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:  The faculty and administration of Brooklyn College support an environment free from academic dishonesty, including: cheating, obtaining unfair advantages, plagiarism, and falsification of records or official documents. Each student is responsible for being aware of and avoiding academic dishonesty. If a faculty member suspects a violation of academic integrity and, upon investigation, confirms that violation, or if the student admits the violation, the faculty member is required to report the violation.  

DISABILITY SERVICES:  In order to receive disability-related academic accommodations, a student must first be registered with the Center for Student Disability Services. Students who have a documented disability or suspect they may have a disability are invited to set up an appointment with the Director of the Center for Student Disability Services, Ms. Valerie Stewart-Lovell at 718-951-5538, vstewart@brooklyn.cuny.edu, or visit the office located in room 138 Roosevelt Hall. ATTENDANCE: Attendance is required. Each student will be allowed 1 excused absence and 1 excused lateness over the course of the semester. You must provide official documentation to excuse any other absences. Please note: Brooklyn College requires instructors to submit student attendance records. 

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COURSE CONTENT AND DESIGN: Students are welcome to suggest changes to the syllabus, including adding or amending readings, assignments, and topics of interest.
